Bluetooth sensoring in highways
In 2010 Bitcarrier implemented its Roadsolver solution on the Spanish highways belonging to the Abertis Group. Bitcarrier implemented its highway sensors along 800 km of highways and is currently auditing 40% of all traffic on the Abertis network.

Failsafe policy
The daily average of devices detected by each of the nodes implemented is 50,000 unique identifiers, so Bitcarrier platform is receiving about 6 million identifiers to process and filter in real-time every day. Each of the nodes is related not only with the adjoining nodes but also with up to 6 nodes. Therefore, power cuts or loss of mobile coverage affecting any of the nodes which are part of a route do not affect the travel times information delivered to the Traffic Management Center. This failsafe policy guarantees a robust system with high fault tolerance.
Thanks to the accurate real information provided by Roadsolver solution, the Abertis Traffic Management Centre is now able to tackle incidents as soon as they arise, act promptly and even anticipate and prevent major traffic problems.
Information provided to Abertis
Currently, Roadsolver solution is providing accurate travel time information for travelers through approximately 120 Variable Message Signs (VMS) used on the highways. Each VMS simultaneously displays up to three travel times (i.e. the travel time to the next exit, to an important middle destination in the route and to the last exit of the highway) so that any traveler has accurate travel time information. As such information has been available since July 2010, travelers have been able to check its reliability and now frequent users of the Abertis highways consider it to be an extremely useful, value-added service provided by the highway operator.
Moreover, the information provided by the solution is the basis for the information of service levels published in the public web of the highway operator. This information may be checked from any PC or mobile device with Internet connectivity.
In 2011, Abertis Group decided to extend the use of Roadsolver along its highways so that 1,500 km of highways will be monitored before the end of 2011.
